According to the Lancet Commission on Pollution and Health, pollution has a considerably bigger impact on global health than War, Terrorism, Malaria, HIV, Tuberculosis, Narcotics, and Alcohol.

According to the survey, 66.7 million (6.7 million) people died as a result of air pollution.

The majority of the 16.7 lakh deaths in India were caused by air pollution, with 9.8 lakh deaths caused by PM 2.5 pollution. Indoor air pollution was responsible for another 6.1 lakh deaths.

In 2019, there were 1,42,883 deaths due to pollution. The United States is in 7th place in terms of deaths due to pollution. According to the report, more than 90% of deaths caused by pollution occur in low-income and middle-income countries.
