Maharashtra Teen Fakes Kidnapping, Flees with Boyfriend to Kolkata; Police on the Hunt

In a surprising turn of events, a 17-year-old girl from Maharashtra’s Palghar district allegedly orchestrated her own kidnapping before eloping with her boyfriend to Kolkata, according to authorities. The incident came to light when the girl failed to return home after leaving for work on Friday, June 16, prompting her family to report her missing to the Virar police station.
The girl, employed in the housekeeping section of a company, left her residence in Virar but did not show up as expected. Concerned for her safety, her family initiated a search for her whereabouts. In the midst of the search, the girl sent a voice message to her brother via WhatsApp, claiming that she had been kidnapped.
Prompted by the seriousness of the situation, the family lodged a complaint with the police, who subsequently registered a case under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to kidnapping. Investigating the matter, a police team diligently pursued various leads and eventually discovered that the girl and her boyfriend had boarded a flight to Kolkata, West Bengal.
Taking swift action, the police have dispatched a team to Kolkata in an effort to locate and bring back the duo. The search for the girl and her boyfriend is ongoing, with authorities committed to ensuring their safe return and resolving the matter at hand.
The reasons behind the girl’s decision to stage her own kidnapping and flee with her boyfriend remain unclear. However, initial reports suggest that their alleged relationship was against the wishes of the girl’s family, as both individuals hail from the Tomar community.
As investigations continue, the incident serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges surrounding interpersonal relationships, particularly when they clash with familial expectations. The authorities are focused on resolving the situation in a responsible and compassionate manner, prioritizing the welfare and safety of the missing girl and her boyfriend.
