Kerala government announces relaxation in working hours for employees with Autistic children

The Kerala government has announced a new policy to provide relaxation in working hours for its employees who have children suffering from autistic disorders, cerebral palsy, multiple disabilities, and mental retardation. The policy was announced on Wednesday and is aimed at helping parents who are caring for their children with disabilities.
Under the new policy, government employees who are parents of children with 40 per cent or more such disabilities will be given a maximum of 16 hours of total working hours in a month. This is in addition to the concessions currently granted to government staff.
The decision was taken by the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The government said in a statement that the move is aimed at supporting parents who are caring for children with disabilities and to help them balance their work and family responsibilities.
The new policy will benefit a large number of employees who are parents of children with disabilities. It is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of these children and their families, who often face significant challenges in accessing services and support.
The Kerala government has been taking several steps to improve the lives of people with disabilities in the state. It has set up special schools and centres for children with disabilities and has also implemented several welfare schemes for people with disabilities.
The new policy is expected to go a long way in providing much-needed support to parents of children with disabilities and is likely to be welcomed by the disability community in the state.
